Pulmonologist services

A pulmonologist is a respiratory specialist who treats lung diseases, most commonly asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and sleep apnea. Early symptoms of asthma include recurring and prolonged colds, a lingering cough and gradually worsening shortness of breath during physical activity. Every other case of adult onset asthma is non-allergic asthma. Bronchial sensitivity to various airborne pollutants is typical of all asthma patients.

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease is often caused by long-term smoking. Typical symptoms include coughing, increased mucous secretion and shortness of breath during physical activity. The most common examinations used to diagnose these diseases are spirometry (breath test) peak expiratory flow (PEF) measurements performed at home and chest X-rays.

Symptoms of sleep apnoea include sleepiness during the day, memory and attention problems, sweating during the night and morning headaches. In case of suspected sleep apnea, a polysomnography (sleep study) test can be performed at home.

Make an appointment online or by calling 09 7750 800. You can also make an appointment at the reception desk at any Diacor medical centre.

Especially if you are visiting us for the first time, you should bring a list of the medications you are currently using, complete with the strengths and doses. If you have received treatment elsewhere, it is also helpful if you bring any relevant test results and case histories.

When paying, you can also schedule appointments for any additional examinations that your physician has prescribed for you.

A private physician sets his or her own rates, so the prices may vary depending on how long the appointment takes, for instance. You can get information about a particular physician’s rates online or when you make an appointment.
A 30-minute appointment with a pulmonologist normally costs around 105 euros, but a Social Insurance Institution (Kela) reimbursement of 16,50 euros is directly subtracted from the price. The customer pays 88,50 euros plus an administrative fee, which currently amounts to 17 euros. In this example, the customer therefore pays 105,50 euros for the visit. Any necessary examinations are billed separately.
