Gynecological surgery

At Diacor, we perform gynecological operations quickly and painlessly. The patient usually recovers quickly and most procedures do not result in any permanent scars.
Lower abdominal pain, irregular or abnormally heavy menstrual bleeding, urinary incontinence and intercourse are all problems which should be examined by a gynecologist. They can often be treated with minor, simple operations which greatly improve your quality of life.
The following conditions can be treated with surgery, when necessary:
  • uterine tumours (fibroids)
  • uterine prolapse
  • ovarian tumours and cysts
  • urinary incontinence
  • benign uterine tumours (polyp removal)
  • rectal prolapse into the vagina (rectocele)
We also perform hysterectomies and uterine endoscopies (hysteroscopies).
For each procedure, preparations are made not only by the surgeon him- or herself but also by a physician who specialises in anesthesia and pain relief (i.e. an anesthesiologist) and a team of nurses. Learn more about the preparations for surgical procedures here.
There are several types of anesthesia and pain relief that can be used during gynecological surgery. Before the procedure, you will get an opportunity to discuss the various methods of pain relief with our anesthesiologist. Separate pain relief is not always necessary.
Most gynecological operations are performed via the vaginal route, so that the abdominal wall does not need to be opened. Recovery from this kind of procedure is painless and the patient can quickly return to her work and hobbies. The patient can often be discharged during the same day.
When you are here for your operation, we will also schedule any necessary aftercare and follow-up appointments.

You can make an appointment with a gynecologist online or by calling 09 7750 800.

Please bring information about your insurance and about any examinations you have had elsewhere.

If you are referred to surgery, you can make an appointment for the procedure directly with the surgeon or by calling the hospital on 09 7750 8180. Before you come to the hospital, please make sure that you have an approved promissory note from your insurance company. You can schedule an appointment even if you do not yet have a promissory note.

Please read the hospital admission information and fill in the electronic patient information form.

Prices for the most common gynecological surgical procedures:
Endoscopic hysterectomy starts from €5440
Posterior or anterior vaginal wall repair starts from €3080
Removal of uterine abnormalities starts from €1980
Vaginal fibroid removal starts from €1980
Laparoscopic removal of ovarian cysts starts from €3190
Continence surgery, TVT or TVT-O starts from €2360

A total cost estimate is made during an appointment with the specialist who performs the procedure. The final price is determined by the materials and implants used, the duration and difficulty of the procedure, the need for additional examinations and the length of the hospital stay.

The Social Insurance Institution (Kela) can reimburse part of the surgeon’s and anesthesiologist's fees. The size of the reimbursement is determined by the standard rate which has been set by the Social Insurance Institution for the relevant procedure code. In practice, the reimbursement does not cover the full cost of the procedure.

We have built up long-term partnerships with several insurance companies. Learn more about our insurance agreements.

With a Diacor Hoitotili (Healthcare Account), you get opportunities for flexible payment. If you wish, you can pay your bill in instalments.
