Geriatrician services

Geriatrics is a specialist field of medicine which focuses on elderly patients. In geriatrics, patients over the age of 75 are considered elderly, particularly if they suffer from memory disorders. Most patients visit the geriatrician for a comprehensive examination. The examination includes, among other things, assessments of interaction between medicines, memory function and possible diseases.

Geriatricians also have expert knowledge on how elderly patients recover from surgery and can, when necessary, recommend suitable follow-up care. The geriatrician assesses the suitability and dosing of the patient’s medication. Many internal medicine specialists also treat geriatric patients.

It is important that the patient brings a family member or friend to the appointment.

Make an appointment online or by calling 09 7750 800. You can also make an appointment at the reception desk at any Diacor medical centre.

Please arrive on time to make sure you have sufficient time to sign in. You can also arrange to sign in via text message when making your appointment.

Please observe the following, especially if you are visiting us for the first time:

  • Please bring a list of the medications you are currently using, complete with the strengths and doses. This is particularly important for geriatric patients.
  • If you have received treatment elsewhere, it is also helpful if you bring any relevant X-ray or laboratory test results and case histories.

When paying, you can also schedule appointments for any additional examinations that your doctor has prescribed for you.

A private physician sets his or her own rates, so the prices may vary depending on how long the appointment takes, for instance. You can get information about a particular physician’s rates online or when you make an appointment.

A 30-minute appointment normally costs around 110 euros, but a Social Insurance Institution (Kela) reimbursement of 16,50 euros is directly subtracted from the price. The customer pays 93,50 euros plus an administrative fee, which currently amounts to 17 euros. In this example, the customer therefore pays 110,50 euros for the visit. Any necessary examinations are billed separately.
