Dermatologist services

A dermatologist, i.e. a physician who specialises in skin diseases and sexually transmitted diseases, treats the body’s largest organ, the skin. His or her field of expertise also includes skin appendages such as nails, hair, sweat glands and mucous membranes. Allergic diseases are also closely associated with skin diseases. A dermatologist typically treats different kinds or rashes or eczema (chronic or acute), psoriasis, various bacterial and fungal skin infections, and acne and other sebaceous gland disorders. Some dermatologists supervise allergy desensitisations and interpret allergy tests.

Dermatologists examine skin tumours and treat minor skin cancers and precancerous skin conditions through topical treatment, freezing or surgery. Skin changes in patients with elevated risk are monitored both with the naked eye and with a dermascope. In problematic cases, a tissue sample (biopsy) may have to be taken from the skin.

Some dermatologists treat severe underarm sweating (axillary hyperhidrosis). Some also perform cosmetic procedures (chemical peels and injection therapy). Dermatologists treat patients of all ages. Dermatologists often receive patients who have been referred by their occupational physician. They also cooperate with other specialists such as plastic surgeons and lung, ear and internal medicine specialists.

Instructions

1.

Make an appointment online or by calling 09 7750 800. You can also make an appointment at the reception desk at any Diacor medical centre.

2.

Please bring a list of any medications you are currently using and the results from any relevant examinations you have had elsewhere.

3.

When paying, you can also schedule appointments for any additional examinations that your physician has prescribed for you.

Expenses

A private physician sets his or her own rates, so the prices may vary depending on how long the appointment takes, for instance. You can get information about a particular physician’s rates online or when you make an appointment.
A dermatologist appointment of less than 20 minutes normally costs around 80 euros, but a Social Insurance Institution (Kela) reimbursement of 13.50 euros is directly subtracted from the price. The customer pays 66.50 euros plus an administrative fee, which currently amounts to 17 euros. In this example, the customer therefore pays 83.50 euros for the visit. Any necessary examinations are billed separately.
